Fuerza La Labor is a rotating microlot blend of the combined crops of a small number of families from the town of La Labor. This small town has a population of less than 10,000 in Ocotopeque, Honduras. They are members of the famous Cocafelol cooperative, through which they process and export their coffee. Cocafelol sets aside lots that are suitable for the Fuerza la Labor profile throughout the harvest, ensuring that it has a consistent cup profile between seasons. The name of the coffee is a play on words as La Labor, the name of the town, means labour in Spanish. Fuerza la Labor loosely translates as ‘power to the people’ and was created to highlight a different way of promoting quality that keeps in tune with the community spirit of a cooperative. This is the second year that we have sourced a Honduran coffee through our importer partners, and we are happy to be a part of a program which supports this fine community.
