Kiruru AA Filter

We love Kenyan coffees for their bright, balanced and jam-packed flavours, often medium to fuller bodied experiences in the cup. We chose this lot not only for these reasons, but because of its incredibly aromatic tea florals, which we found to be quite special.

The Kiruru Coffee Factory was established in 1952 and rests on a 5 acre piece of land serving Kiriaini, Umbuni, Kiambuthia, Gikiundu and Kagioini villages.

The most unique aspect of this factory is that it is located within traditional tea growing zones. This area experiences a biannual production cycle with the early harvest being from March-May and the late second season being from October-December. The region has deep, fertile well drained red volcanic soils which are ideal for coffee production.

The Kiruru Factory is a coffee processing station in Kiru; Murang’a County. Kiru Farmers’ Cooperative has four processing stations which are Kiruru, Kora, Kamagogo and Diara with about 3500 farmers delivering coffee cherry to these factories. In addition to coffee, the farmers grow macadamia, potatoes, maize, beans and tea for the local markets. This area experiences moderate rainfall and temperatures here range from 12 to 24C year round.
