Coffee grounds can be used as rub for almost any cut of meat. Coffee rub on steak can also act as a tenderiser, making meat softer and enhancing the moisture of the meat by creating a sealed crust of flavor.

This BBQ Coffee Rub Recipe is perfect for steaks. This Coffee Rub not only gives your steak great flavour, but a nice crust as well. If you have never used a Coffee Rub on steaks it is worth a try. 

Ingredients:

  • 100g Code Black 3056 blend – ground
  • 50g sea salt flakes
  • 15g cracked black pepper
  • 10g fennel seeds
  • 10g onion powder
  • 7g smoked paprika
  • 3g dried thyme leaves

 

Method:

    • Toast the fennel seeds and black pepper in a 180 degree Celsius oven for 3 minutes.
    • Place everything into a mixing bowl and mix well.
    • When rubbing the beef (brisket works best), apply liberally and let marinate overnight.
